Broadford Riders’ Club Dressage Competition - a Great Success.

Julie Doherty

With many months and “woman-hours” invested in the planning, the Broadford Riders Club’s Barastoc Dressage Jackpot which was held on the 26th October, 2014 has been hailed a great success.

The event committee was headed up by Julie Doherty, one of the founding club members and Carol Hill, who are acknowledged for their outstanding organisational skills, and their input was appreciated in the smooth running and success of the day.

The event was held at the well appointed Elmore Events Centre and the committee; competitors and spectators alike scknowleged the great facilities and support of the Centre’s management.

The Elmore Golf Club undertook catering for the day and the ladies did a good job keeping coffee and food up to the approximately 250 people in attendance.

The Broadford Riders Club are very grateful for the enthusiastic support of the many sponsors including Barastoc horse feeds and Mustad Lowdens Saddleworld, who helped the club to award fantastic prizes and other organisations and individuals who donated goods and services for the raffle.  This event is a major fundraiser for the club and monies raised will be invested in new equipment and member benefits to help the club grow.

One hundred competitors took part at all levels from Advanced through to Level 5.  The venue was ideally suited with multiple rings already set up for dressage and enthusiasts based on the North/West side of Melbourne, find Elmore is an easy drive.   The event helped to showcase and encourage the re-homing of Thoroughbreds after racing and Racing Victoria’s, “Off the Track” program provided saddle blankets for the top scoring Thoroughbred in each class.

Chris and LauraThe huge task of scoring was entrusted to Equiscore (http://equiscore.com.au)  – Chris and Laura (right) did a great job, the results were posted quickly and available on the screens outside the scoring booth, as well as on the scoreboards.  Their expertise and professionalism added to the day and reduced the workload and stress for the organisers.

The Broadford Riders Club acknowledge the support of HRCAV (Horse Riding Associations of Victoria) which provides the structure and guidelines which govern the club’s membership and rules that enabled this competition to run smoothly and facilitate advancement for riders from other clubs affiliated with HRCAV.

The club also extended gratitude to the judges who officiated and other helpers who assisted in making the day a success.

The Broadford Riders’ Club is very grateful to Brown Brothers Wines who donated prize winning red and white wines which went into the “thankyou” showbags for the judges..

The club has been congratulated for their great prizes, special awards and thankyou gifts and would like to acknowledge the generosity of the businesses that helped to make the day special.

Committee and friends of the club congratulate all winners and placegetters, the standard of training, preparation and presentation for this competition was very pleasing. The feedback from the judging panel was very positive.

The presentation ceremony was made especially exciting as the raffle tickets were placed in a big container and the many winners were drawn.  The club involved ticket holders and supporters, the winner of the previous prize, drew the winner of the next.  It was cheers all round as Samantha Mizzi’s winner’s ticket came up for the weekend away and the fabulous Flowerdale Estate.  Be sure to remember their generosity when next you need some R & R.
