Rebel Morrow and Hillgrove Enviable win the
inaugural Holstein Park Leilani Trophy

Rebel Morrow

Brisbane based Olympic rider Rebel Morrow and her thoroughbred mare Hillgrove Enviable placed 5th in the CCI3* at the Sydney International Three Day Event to take out the award.

The trophy donated by Jean and Jade Findlay was presented to the highest placed mare in the CCI3* and included $1000 prize money. The  17hh Holsteiner x TB by Lander, started her eventing career with Jade Findlay, who took the mare through to 2 star level, however the ride was given to Chris Burton in 2008 when Jade became pregnant. Burton and Leilani’s partnership went from strength to strength and featured many milestones, such as selection on The World Equestrian Games and Olympic Games Team, Badminton and her final event before retirement, Aachen where she finished in 1st place.

HP LeilaniLeilani was brought back to SIEC to take park in the presentation. The last time Leilani was at SIEC was at the Sydney International 3 Day event in 2011. Ridden by Burton the pair finished on their dressage score to come 2nd.

Chris Burton who is currently overseas, wrote a tribute to Leilani which was read out at the emotional ceremony.

"What a horse she was! I was privileged to be the jockey on HP Leilani for the bigger part of her eventing career. The truth is I'm not sure how many of us would have persisted with her has a novice horse.

Had it not been for Jade's patience and getting her to advanced we might never have known just how good she was. She always had a quality about her. I remember the first time I sat on her getting the feeling she was a special horse. While she had many amazing wins during her career, her real strength was her reliability. She never missed a start.

She competed at 5 out of the 6 4*'s in the world as well as representing Australia at the World Equestrian Games and the Olympics. Every year of her career she progressed into a better and better horse, right up to 17. This was no better illustrated than when, in her final run, at the prestigious CIC3* at Aachen she beat the Olympic, World and European Champion, Michel Jung and Sam. How lucky I was to have her in my career.”
