WEG - Mixed Results for Aussie Reiners

Shauna Larcombe

Martin Larcombe will fly the flag for Australia in Saturday’s reining final at the FEI World Equestrian Games 2014 after Shauna Larcombe, Shaun Saunders and John Wicks finished outside the top five in Wednesday’s consolation qualifier.

With a field of 23 riders and only five positions available, competition was always going to be fierce and the Australians gave it their all in a bid to secure a finals berth.

With Martin through to the final courtesy of his top 15 finish in the first round of qualification, sister Shauna Larcombe and her horse La Bigia Sailor were the first Aussies to go and the pair receied a score of 214 which was good for 11th place.
John Wicks on borrowed horse Top Flash Cody were next to go receiving a score of 211 which saw them finish in 18th position.

Last to go for the Aussies was Shaun Saunders, also the borrowed horse Sparkin Tinsel. Saunders and his horse were the best placed of the Aussies finishing in 9th position with a score of 214.5.
