Woodend Pony Club CT and Dressage, 21st Sept. 2014

Burren-Dah Melrose

The Organising Committee’s prayers were answered with beautiful Spring weather to make for a perfect day of Open Class and Pony Club competition at the Woodend Pony Club Grounds.

Helen BrieierWoodend Pony Club DC Helen Breier (pictued right), was delighted with the numbers and said that the event gave members and friends a valuable opportunity to prepare for competition and match skills with open class combinations and riders from other Victorian pony clubs.

Helen added, “This competition is an important fund raiser for Woodend, our Committee pulled together to make it a fantastic day and opportunity to finance the much needed upgrades to our Dressage and Showjumping equipment.  I must acknowledge the hard work of our competition workforce, without parents putting in to perform the necessary ground maintenance, setting up rings and of course, the huge administration required for the event, our day would not happen.”

The Open classes attracted entries from riders looking to give their horses some early season experience and valuable feedback from judges’ which will help to improve future performances.

Ella PointerPony Club is an outstanding international “Youth Movement” which gives tiny tots through to young adults the opportunity to learn horsemanship, equine management, riding and competition skills.

Most of Australia’s Olympic and World Equestrian Games representatives got their start at Pony Club.  The movement relies on the dedication of parents and volunteers to ensure that Australia’s proud heritage in equestrian sport is fostered and developed.
